Bradley C. Ratliff, Esq., is a Virginia attorney with nearly two decades of legal experience representing individuals, families, businesses, municipalities, and public authorities throughout Southwest Virginia and the surrounding Appalachian region. His primary areas of practice include personal injury and wrongful death litigation, Virginia workers’ compensation claims, estate planning and elder law, real estate matters, municipal and public authority representation, business law, and general civil litigation.

Mr. Ratliff is admitted to practice law in Virginia, West Virginia, and Kentucky, as well as before the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia and the United States Bankruptcy Court. He serves as Managing Attorney of The Reliance Law Group with offices located in Cedar Bluff and Bristol, Virginia. Under his leadership, the firm has developed a reputation for providing practical, client-focused legal representation across a broad range of civil, administrative, and governmental matters.

A lifelong resident of Southwest Virginia, Mr. Ratliff brings a unique professional background to the practice of law. Before becoming an attorney, he worked in the field of rehabilitation counseling and vocational services, experience that continues to inform his work in personal injury, disability, workers’ compensation, and elder law matters. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Bluefield College, his Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia, and his Juris Doctor from Appalachian School of Law in 2006. While attending law school, he received the Willard Owens Community Service Award in recognition of his service and commitment to the community.

Mr. Ratliff is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and regularly advises clients in matters involving wills, trusts, asset protection, incapacity planning, guardianships, and long-term care planning. He also represents injured individuals in automobile, trucking, workplace, and premises liability claims, and has extensive experience handling Virginia workers’ compensation matters and complex civil disputes.

In addition to representing private clients, Mr. Ratliff serves as Town Attorney for the Town of Cedar Bluff and the Town of Pocahontas. He also serves as legal counsel for the Southwest Regional Recreation Authority (“Spearhead Trails”), the Heart of Appalachia Tourism Authority, Breaks Interstate Park, and the Cumberland Plateau Planning District Commission. Through these roles, he regularly advises local governments, regional authorities, and public entities on governance, litigation, contracts, land use, regulatory compliance, and economic development matters.

Known for his practical approach and strong ties to the communities he serves, Mr. Ratliff has built a practice focused on helping clients navigate difficult legal issues with clarity, preparation, and confidence.

Mr. Ratliff is actively involved in community and regional development initiatives throughout Southwest Virginia. He serves as a member of the Tazewell County Tourism Board and the Cedar Bluff Business and Professional Association and has participated in numerous community and economic development efforts designed to promote tourism, recreation, and local growth throughout the region. He engages community events and revitalization initiatives and he was an initial organizer of the annual “Cedar Bluff Halloweentown” event and other local projects focused on strengthening community engagement and regional identity, including the Cedar Bluff Heritage Festival. Mr. Ratliff has additionally been commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in recognition of his service and contributions to the community.
